Hours
The Centre is open from 7.30 to 4.30 Monday to Friday, except Public holidays. We are open 50 weeks a year. The Centre will be closed over the Christmas and New Year break. A late fee of $1.00 per minute will be charged if your child is picked up after 4.30pm. This fee is NOT covered by the Childcare Benefit.

What to bring at the start of each term
At the beginning of January, April, July and October your child’s parent/guardian is required to supply the following items:
•    1 box of tissues
•    2 rolls of toilet paper
•    1 liquid soap (please make sure that it has no nuts in the soap eg. almond etc.)
•    If parents do not bring in their supplies, a $10 levy will apply each term.

Cooking/Photos Levy
$2 per month paid in full  January to June $12 and July until December $12.  The money can be paid directly to your child’s teacher or the Office. The money will be used for any cooking or sampling of different foods, art materials for special occasions e.g. Mother’s day, Fathers day, Easter etc.

Procedure on informing parents of your child’s day
Any concerns about a child will be conveyed to the parent at the end of the day or sooner if necessary. Staff write in the daybook of what the group did during the day, sleepers, meal times or any thing of interest. Children’s work will be placed in their bag or room pockets for collection by parents.  We have a weekly program on display for parents to read. This is a guide for parents to know what the children will be doing throughout the week.

Show ’n Tell
We would prefer items of an educational value or an interest to others, rather than swords and guns. Toys are not encouraged in the centre as this can create problems especially if the child’s toys get broken. Spider man/ Batman etc dress ups are not encouraged as it can make the other children very hyped up.  Show and tell live animals/insets would be appreciated if they can be returned to their environment. All show and tell items are only to be used at show and tell time not to be played with throughout the day. We have a roster up that will have your child’s show and tell day on it.

Fire Drill
Fire evacuation procedures are displayed in your child’s room, Staff and students practise the evacuation drill on a regular basis. Fire equipment is regularly maintained. Please familiarise yourself with the plan in the event of a fire drill as everyone in the Centre has to comply. In case of a real fire parents will be contacted to collect their children.

If you require a translator
The Centre uses lifeline community Care Queensland for any inclusion of different cultures for parents and children. Phone (07) 3861 1022. We also use Multicultural Development Association (MDA), who provides a free service to assist us with the inclusion of children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Networking
The Centre networks with Nutrition Australia, Queensland Health for Promoting Health in Early Childhood Environments, Happy Teeth, Inclusion support for children with disabilities and cultural issues. We also network with other Montessori schools and Centres.

Procedure for transition to school
Children nearing school age are encouraged into a program to develop their self-help skills and the staff will spend time discussing the move to school using appropriate stories and activities.  We do have information for parents that may help you decide if your child is ready for school. After leaving our Centre parents and children are always welcome back for a visit.

Graduation for children attending Year 1
The Centre is very proud to see the children graduate. As part of our Centre end-of-year concert, we have a graduation ceremony for the children leaving us to attend year 1.
